The Dulwich Almshouse Charity (DAC) is a charity that operates a small almshouse in Dulwich. It provides 15 quality, affordable, warden-assisted flats to low-income older people over the age of 60. The DAC and its residents have strong ties to the local area and the warden runs an outreach scheme to support older people living near the almshouse. The warden assists DAC residents to live independently and arranges optional social activities.
The DAC also provides small grants to other charities that share its aim of helping older people in its area of benefit. The charities include: the Bishopsgate Foundation, the Camberwell Consolidated Charity, St Luke’s Trust, St Christopher’s Hospice and Link Age Southwark. The Dulwich Estate provides 43% of the DAC’s income.
