Species and Location of Tree
Front garden
T10/13. Four Lime trees on the front boundary with Calton Avenue.
T9. A Laburnum tree approximately 4m in height, situated on the left-side of the garden. The tree is poorly shaped.
Rear Garden
T1. A Holm Oak tree approximately 5m in height, situated on the left-hand side boundary of the rear garden.
T2. A Wild Plum tree (Prunus) approximately 9m in height, situated on the left-hand side boundary.
T3. A Rowan tree approximately 7.5m in height, situated on the right-hand side boundary of the rear garden.
T4. A Cherry tree (Prunus) approximately 6m in height, situated on the left-hand side boundary of the rear garden.
T5/6. Two Apple trees. These are fruit trees and are therefore not covered under the Scheme of Management. The trunk formations are quite sculptural.
T7. A Crab Apple (Malus) tree approximately 6m in height, situated on the left-hand side boundary of the rear garden.
T8. A multi-stemmed Wild Plum tree approximately 10m in height, situated on the left-hand side boundary towards the bottom of the rear garden. The tree is a little dense and wide spreading.
3. Description of Approved Works
Front Garden
T10/13. The trees are to be retained in their present form although reduced in height by up to 1m and thinned by approximately 15%, the ‘pleaching’ of the Limes should be continued.
T9. Remove and the roots grubbed out.
Rear Garden
T1. The tree may be removed subject to replanting with a suitable specie.
T2. The tree may be removed subject to replanting with a suitable specie.
T3. The tree is to be retained and no work is permitted at the present time.
T4. The tree may be removed subject to replanting with a suitable specie.
T5/6. Consideration should be given to their retention albeit reduced in height to approximately 3m.
T7. The tree may be removed subject to replanting with a suitable specie.
T8. Crown thin by 30% including the removal of dead wood, water shoots, and necessary re-shaping. The height and basic shape should be retained.
4. Details of Replacement Required
T9. As a condition of the removal of (T9) above, a replacement tree is to be planted in a convenient location of the front garden and below are the three alternative species for consideration:
Acer griseum (Paperbark Maple)
Halesia carolina (Snowdrop tree)
Rhus typhina (Sumach)
The new tree should be planted during the November 2022 and March 2023 planting season with a stem girth of between 14-16cm at 1m above ground level and at a minimum height of 3m.
