Court Lane, 194

Proposal:

Specie and Location of Tree

A Purple Plum tree approximately 9m in height, situated on the front boundary.  The tree is in poor health and condition, and recently shed a large bough which fell into the front garden of no.194.  There is also a split in the main trunk just below another major bough encroaching over the front garden of no.192.

Description of Approved Works

The tree can either be reduced in height by 50% and the side growth trimmed back proportionally, including the removal of dead wood and necessary re-shaping, or removed altogether.  If the latter option is chosen, the remaining stump should be ground out and a new tree panted in a convenient location on the front boundary of 194.  There is an existing Laburnum tree in the front garden of 192.

Details of Replacement Required

As a condition of the removal of the above, a replacement tree should be planted in a convenient location on the front boundary and below are the three alternative species for consideration:

Crataegus prunifolia                                        (Cockspur Thorn)

Prunus cerasifera ‘Atropurpurea’              (Purple leafed Plum)

Aesculus x carnea                                             (Crimson Chestnut)

The tree should be planted this planting season between November 2020 and March 2021 with a stem girth of between 14-16cm at 1m above ground level and at a minimum height of 3m.
