Pond Cottages, 10/11

Proposal:

Species and Location of Trees

T1.          A variety of Prunus approximately 15m in height, situated on the left-hand side boundary of the rear garden.  The tree is a little dense and wide-spreading.

T2.          An Ash tree approximately 15m in height, situated on the left-hand side boundary of the rear garden.  The tree is a little dense and wide-spreading.

T3.          There are a number of small trees approximately 6m in height which are situated in the bottom left-hand corner of the rear garden.  The trees are completely covered in Ivy.

Description of Approved Works

T1.          Crown thin by 20% including the removal of dead wood and shortening of a low branch encroaching over the boundary towards the Dulwich College Sports Centre by up to 25%.  The height and basic shape should be retained.  It is important to prune branches at convenient growth points, rather than an all-round reduction or pollarding which is not permitted.

T2.          Crown thin by 20% including the removal of dead wood and a broken branch together with the shortening of a low branch encroaching over the boundary towards the Dulwich College Sports Centre by up to 25%.  The height and basic shape should be retained.  A central stem at the first forking point should also be removed.  There is evidence of a black bracket fungi (Inonotus hispidus) which indicates dead wood and this should be investigated.

T3.          The Ivy should be severed at the base of each tree and removed where possible
