Proposal:
Species and Location of Trees
T1. A self-sown Sycamore tree approximately 10m in height, situated in a central location towards the bottom of the rear garden. The tree is badly sited.
T2. A Lime tree approximately 5m in height, situated on the left-hand side boundary towards the bottom of the rear garden. The tree is a little dense and wide spreading.
T3. A Yew tree approximately 5m in height, situated on the left-hand side boundary of the rear garden. The tree is poorly shaped.
Description of Approved Works
T1. Fell at ground level and the stump ground out or poisoned.
T2. Lightly thin by 15% including trimming back from the boundary and the removal of any dead wood. The height and basic shape should be retained. It is important to prune branches at convenient growth points, rather than an all-round reduction or pollarding which is not permitted.
T3. The tree can either be reduced all round by up to 1.5m or removed altogether.
Details of Replacement Required
As a condition of the removal of (T1) above, a replacement tree is to be planted in a convenient location of the rear garden and below are the three alternative species for consideration:
Arbutus unedo (Strawberry tree)
Crataegus prunifolia (Cockspur Thorn)
Sorbus aucuparia (Rowan)
The new tree should be planted during the November 2022 and March 2023 planting season with a stem girth of between 14-16cm at 1m above ground level and at a minimum height of 3m.
If (T3) above is removed a replacement tree will not be necessary as the garden is well stocked with trees.
