New book reveals mid-century oasis
08 December 2021A new book, written by local architects and supported by The Dulwich Estate, pays homage to the build and design of 31 Dulwich housing estates, now recognised as exemplars of mid-Century modern architecture.
The stunning photographs in this book illustrate the value of conservation and stewardship. Hardback copies of the book are currently available from catherine@catherinesamy.com.
Dulwich, Mid-Century Oasis by Paul Davis, Ian McInnes and Catherine Samy, documents a 15-year building period in which Estate-appointed architect Russell Vernon championed high quality, thoughtful, people and nature-centred design. It resulted in modernist classics which have stood the test of time and are increasingly valued by residents and experts considering how to build sustainable communities.
