NEWS:
New rain garden for wildlife
14 March 2025The Dulwich Estate is creating a swale at the Grove Meadow on College Road, next to Village Orchard.

The area will be temporarily fenced to create wetland habitat for amphibians such as frogs and newts as well as other wildlife and wildflowers. It also aims to help detain rainwater runoff to alleviate seasonal flooding. A 20 sqm shallow excavation will be dug out, and the earth will be used to create a low embankment, sown with wildflower seed. Planting will include robust native species such as sedge and ranunculus.
The Estate will monitor how plants and wildlife establish in the area and keep it under review. If you spot anything we would love to hear from you at info@thedulwichestate.org.uk
