RIBA award-winning architects get green light for new Burbage Road home
23 January 2018Southwark Council has granted planning permission for a new 400 sq m family home on Burbage Road in Dulwich, designed by Burgess Architects for The Dulwich Estate. The contemporary home takes its cue from its Arts and Crafts style neighbours and revitalises a former brown-field site, currently occupied by lock-up garages and a disused access track - addressing a significant gap in one of the most important streets in the heart of leafy Dulwich.
RIBA award-winners Burgess Architects have developed an approach to the design which is both contemporary, but presents a facade that is closely in keeping with the style of the neighbouring buildings
Adrian Brace, director of property at The Dulwich Estate said: ‘The Dulwich Estate is committed to creating an outstanding living environment – respecting the past while creating places relevant to today. This exciting development is a great example of how high quality design can enhance the area. It takes account of environmental impacts and retains important architectural elements and trees that are unique to the houses and their history.’
